Portway have had some saplings donated by the Woodland Trust to add some hedging around the school playground. We already have a hedge around most of the school but these new additions should fill some of the empty gaps and naturalise the metal fencing from the inside.
The Gardening Club members have taken time out of their lunchtime to plant the saplings and started off the hedgerow following the instructions. Adobe Acrobat software required

The hedgerow pack contained 30 plants of the following species: 6 Hawthorn, 6 Hazel, 6 Holly, 6 Dog Rose, 2 Dogwood and 4 Buckthorn.
The Woodland Trust website has some really good information if you are interested in starting your own hedgerow.
